This bentwood bride’s box is made in germany during the 19th century. The lid is decorated with a colourful portret of a woman and painted text. The sides are decorated with hand-painted roses. Nice example of the germany folk art. These bride boxes where filled with clothing as a wedding gift, the text is often a love text with good wishes. Text on the lid is german: “In gevanken, oft von weiten, küss ich das so mich vernügt, liebe wird mich dahin eilen, wo sich herz mit herzen fügen” meaning: In my thoughts, often from afar, I kiss that so much with pleasure, love will hurry me to where heart and heart submit.
